What do you mean by "Building Relationships, Building Believers, and Building Churches"?

Here is a brief description of each one of our vision statements:

  • BUILD RELATIONSHIPS
We desire to build authentic relationships with each other and with the community in which we live. We are all created in God's image and He is a relational God. He never intended for us to go through life alone. So we desire to build relationships with the lost in order to share with them the transformational truth of the gospel.
  • BUILD BELIEVERS
We desire to equip and empower believers to live victorious Christian lives. We want to help them identify their gifts and passions and use them in the body of Christ in order to advance the Kingdom of God.
  • BUILD CHURCHES
We desire to plant churches all over central Virginia and throughout the world. We believe the greatest means of reaching a community is through church planting. Therefore, it will be a part of our DNA from the start.
  • IN BEDFORD AND TO THE NATIONS
Our vision is to reach more than just our neighborhoods and our communities. In obedience to Acts 1:8, we want to reach our Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the utter-most parts of the world.

What are the values of Bedrock?

Here are brief descriptions of each one of our bedrock principles:

  • TRANSFORMATIONAL TRUTH
Theological depth will be a core value of the church. The Word of God transforms lives not the thoughts of men. We will take great care in handling and communicating God's Truth.
  • AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY
People want to be a part of something that is real and genuine. These characteristics will define the ministries of the church. We want the people of Bedrock to experience life together.
  • JOYFUL WORSHIP
Worship at Bedrock will be a fun celebration. It will be contagious and will include great music, multi-media, drama in an informal setting.
  • RADICAL STEWARDSHIP
We realize that we own nothing. In Acts everyone gave as others had need and we will give of all the resources that God has given to us: our treasure, time, talents, temple, and testimony.
  • PASSIONATE EVANGELISM
We exist to reach people. It is the heartbeat of Bedrock because it is the heartbeat of God. We want to see others as God sees them and be moved with compassion and a zeal to reach them.
  • SACRIFICIAL SERVICE
The community will know that Bedrock loves them and desires to be a part of their lives. We will be involved in servant evangelism and community events throughout Bedford County and beyond.
  • RELEVANT MINISTRY
Everything we do must be practical and relevant in today's culture. We will hold true to doctrine and theology while we change our methodology in order to impact the world of today.

What denomination are you?

Bedrock is an autonomous church. We have a conservative evangelical theology and we are a part of a group of churches dedicated to biblical Christianity and world missions. We partner with the SBCV for the purposes of missions and church planting and we evaluate this partnership every year. We welcome people from a wide variety of Christian denominations. Where did you get the name "Bedrock"?

As soon as we say Bedrock most people get a little smile on their face and begin seeing visions of Fred and Barney riding around in a foot powered car with a purple dinosaur named Dino. But if you mention that name to people from Bedford then you get a completely different response. The people who grew up in this little town in central Virginia affectionately refer to their hometown as "Bedrock". When we learned that tidbit of information the creative juices began to flow and the cultural term was partnered with the truth that Jesus is the bedrock of our salvation and our faith. Since we were a new church in the community of "Bedrock" we decided to go with the name Bedrock Community Church. So there you have it.
